Last weekend I made a stop at Top Knot Vintage and Goodwill. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Now Top Knot is a store that I have been to before. It reminds me of Grey Dog in Fayetteville, which I adore. It is less than a block away and it has some of the coolest pieces. I left with two denim shirts, a cream sweater, and a black button down. Their prices are affordable, and you don’t have to do the work of digging like you would have to somewhere else.
On Sunday, I made my usual trip to Kroger to load up on groceries. On the way out, I noticed that Goodwill had “99 cent Sundays” where certain items were priced at 99 cents. I usually am one to donate to this store and have on occasion gone inside for a college swap or tacky sweater. However, something made me curious, so I went in.
These racks were full of junk, but also hidden treasures! Grandma’s old sweater and over-sized gingham shirt were just the kind of thing I could pair with a shift dress or black pants. I mean, they had leather jackets and lace up shirts. Things that have come back in trend were right here in Goodwill. It was AMAZING! I mean, I’m not sure why I haven’t been going in here for years. After grabbing three items for a total of 6 dollars, I hurried to the car before all of my ice cream had melted.
I say all of this to remind myself that fashion and a love of shopping does not always have to come at a high price. These pieces of clothing have already been worn and I can’t wait to wear them again! They make me proud because they’re vintage, have been recycled, and have a story to tell. I love them just like I love my vintage jewelry. Now excuse me while I go make a quick trip to Goodwill. 🙂
Until Next Time,
Susan E.
