Our first Fourth of July in Nashville is in the books! It was a busy weekend, and we had a lot of fun catching up with old friends and exploring new things. On Friday night, we had a cookout with my college friends Meghan Bright and Sarah Scott and their boyfriends. We feasted on chunky guacamole, chicken and steak kebabs, sweet potatoes, pasta salad, and red velvet sugar cookie bars. I loved making the guacamole and dessert, and highly recommend both of these recipes which I can’t wait to make again! We all ate at the most festive table on the rooftop of Meghan’s apartment. She had patriotic plates and napkins, and we enjoyed catching up and laughing.
On Saturday, Miles’ golfed while I relaxed at home. That night, we chose to stay in and started the series Scandal (which we are both obsessed with). On Sunday, we headed out to Center Hill Lake with some new and old friends. We rented a pontoon boat and spent the day swimming, cliff diving, and dodging the rain. The lake was beautiful and we can’t wait to return! On Monday, Miles’ and I ate at Sky Blue Cafe, a popular breakfast place in East Nashville, for the first time. It was about an hour wait but absolutely worth it! We loved our Tuscan 2.0 and breakfast burrito. We then checked out the Hot Chicken Festival in East Park, and rented Nashville B-Cycle bikes and rode them through Shelby Park. We got rained on some, but it was so refreshing and fun! Monday night it was still wet and rainy, so we decided to watch the fireworks at East Park from our car window. It was a beautiful show.
These outfits I wore over the holiday weekend were so festive and comfortable. I am in love with the embroidered off-the-shoulder top from Free People. It is so fun and easy, and I’ve already worn it again. The red top I’ve had for years, but it always seems to be a hit. I hope you get inspired from my looks, and had a wonderful holiday yourself!
P.S.- Make sure to check out my picture in the Washington Post and read this wonderful article talking all about the off-the-shoulder trend! It was so much fun to see it posted. 🙂
Until Next Time,
Susan Eason
